Travelling the east coast of Australia? This short article lists the Top 10 stops that your east-coast journey should not be without.

Sydney

Host of the 2000 Olympics, Sydney is Australia's largest city with many great tourist destinations to visit. The 'Sydney Opera House', the famous 'Harbour Bridge' are a must see. If you are holidaying in summer make your way down to Bondi Beach for a relaxing day in the sun.

Woolgoolga

Or 'Woopi' as it is known to locals is a secret and secluded beach area located on the New South Wales coast, boasting some great fishing spots this area is perfect for anybody who wants to learn how to surf.

Yamba

About 2 hours south of Byron Bay you will find a place that was recently named best town in Australia by Australian Traveller magazine. Yamba is a quaint surfing and fishing town surrounded by beautiful national parks and beaches and if you are looking for somewhere to hideaway for a few days or weeks, Yamba is the place to visit.

Byron Bay

Is a small surf town located on the most eastern point of Australia, and is home to many backpackers all year round. It's laid back hippy culture is what draws many of the tourists to throw on a Rasta hat and check out cheeky Byron Bay. Many great music festivals are run annually here. 'Splendour in the Grass' and the 'East Coast Blues and Roots Festival' draw massive crowds from all over the world

Surfers Paradise

The nightlife of this amazing town is second to none, located on the Gold Coast holding events such as the 'Indy 300' and 'Schoolies' this party capital of the east coast is somewhere to let loose and party hard.

Brisbane

Queensland's capital is made up of many great cafes, art galleries, museums, live music venues and many cultural activities and events that will keep you busy whilst visiting. If you are looking for nightlife, head to Fortitude Valley also known as 'The Valley' to locals. Whether you are into Indy, Pop, Rock, Metal or Dance you will definitely find a bar or club to get your feet moving.

Noosa

Located on the Sunshine Coast just North of Brisbane, Noosa is a laid back environment where you can indulge in some great shopping or even take a relaxing paddle down the river in a Canoe. If you're looking for some live music in the beginning of September, make sure you check out the Noosa Jazz festival.

Fraser Island off Hervey Bay

Just over four hours drive north of Brisbane, this heritage listed Australian wonder is the world's largest sand island with amazing long white beaches and sunsets to die for. The Seventy-Five Mile Beach is an actual highway that runs up the surf side of the island, taking this into account you can understand why Fraser Island is known to many for its 4WD adventures.

Airlie Beach

Another humble backpacker filled town, Airlie Beach is the gateway to the Great Barrier Reef and the Whitsundays. Airlie has some amazing night spots like the 'Muma Africa' night club and 'Mangas Backpackers' hosting the traditional Aussie Cane Toad racing.

Cairns

Cairns in Northern Queensland has it all, it's where the tropical rainforest meets the sea. For a cheap day out head down to the man-made sandy swimming lagoon or if you are looking to step it up a notch try a Great Barrier Reef Tour, the Skyrail or even White Water Rafting.
